Where to begin? I haven't done this is probably over a month and that's only because I have been so busy with so many trips and such.
Let's start with the perfect way to begin summer. 4-H camp!
Now for those of you who aren't aware, i am completely obsessed with 4-H and 4-H camp. So of course this is the best possible way to get me into the 4-H mood for the 4-H season (summer).
After far too many trainings (like 4) we finally got to go to camp patterson in madison lake for 3 days. On Sunday night we got there had some bonding time and finally went to bed at a far too late of time. We got up at 8 and got ready for the day. When campers got there we played various games and what not to keep them occupied. There favorite part was probably swimming and canoeing which is fun for us counselors as well. Especially when I have to kayak a little girl back to shore in a very small kayak because she's afraid to swim back to shore. We learned about some cool exotic animals from a guest speaker, watched a movie, had a campfire and went to bed. The next day we did sessions where we actually have to teach the little tikes something. I was in charge of tye dye. It was a little interesting to say the least with 20 kids in a group and bottles full of stuff that can dye your clothes for good. We had camp counselor dress up where 10 little boys got to put some clothes on me and dress me up. I ended up with mud all over my face and being called a wicked fat housemaid. Then we watched another movie and had another campfire and learned how to zumba dance. I spent the movie trying to rinse out tie dyed pillow cases for kids to take home. After that adventure my hands ended up looking like the inside of an egg when you dye it at easter time and there's a crack in the shell. On Wednesday morning we cleaned cabins and sent the little tikes home.
Now after writing this I'm guessing that none of this sounds like as much fun as I think it is but you have to experience it to understand. My favorite part of course is the counselor meetings we have at night and have ice cream and pizza. And of course hanging out with my favorite counselors. :)
I'll update soon about my wonderful trip to guatemala.
